What is Water Baptism?
1. It’s an outward sign of an inward change.
This public declaration is similar to a marriage, where you’ve already fallen in love with someone and will now declare it to the world.
2. Your old life is gone, and a new life is here.
When you go into the water, it symbolizes Christ’s death and the death of your sin. When you come out of the water, it symbolizes Christ’s resurrection and your new life in your walk with God.
3. It was part of Jesus’ last instructions.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and
the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.”
Matthew 28:19-20
These words conveyed some of the last instructions Jesus gave to His disciples before returning to His Father in heaven. If Jesus commanded it, we should observe it!
