VEHICLE No. 6 [SHARING]

Put two infants in a crib with one amazing rattling toy, and sharing is not what will happen!  Sharing doesn’t come naturally to us; it’s a learned action. This is true of sharing our toys, our time, and definitely our story. The vehicle of SHARING is all about sharing your “God story” with someone else. The horsepower behind this vehicle may shock you! In Revelation 12:11, God is talking about how Satan tries to attack our lives and how he is defeated.

They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony. Revelation 12:11 (NIV)

The Word of God says that Satan wants to “kill, steal and destroy” our lives today (see John  10:10). God says that two things put Satan right back in his place—the blood of Jesus, which was shed when He died on the cross for you and me, and the power of our testimony.

Our “testimony” is simply the story of what our life was like before God, how we were introduced to God, and how our life has changed since we committed our lives to Christ. When we share that story with others, it not only brings us closer to God but has the ability to change other people’s lives as well.

This is demonstrated perfectly in the story of the woman who encountered Jesus at a well in  Samaria. After speaking with Him, she ran back to her people and told them of Him.

Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come,  see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the  town and made their way toward him. John 4:28-30 (NIV)

The woman simply told some others her story. She didn’t have a seminary degree. She wasn’t a  pastor or a theologian. She didn’t know the answers to difficult biblical questions. She just said,  “Guess what happened to me!” And look what happened.

Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He  told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words, many more became believers. John 4:39-41 (NIV)

Watching those around her give their lives to God would change that woman forever. It would knit her heart closer to the heart of God, and it would change their lives for all of eternity. And this can and should be your story too!

Movement Day 27

TO DO

  • If you don’t have a “God story” yet, then today is the day! Ask God to forgive you of your sins and come into your life in a real and personal way. Today can be the first day of a brand new life with God.
  • If you’ve given your life to God already, then spend some time thanking Him for that today.
  • Ask God to begin showing you people in your own sphere of influence with whom you can share your testimony.
