Day 28: First and Last

VEHICLE No. 6 [SHARING] 

Vehicle No. 6: SHARING is not only a suggested spiritual vehicle, it’s a command from Jesus himself. Look at what He told His disciples in Matthew 4, the moment they began following Him.

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow  me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” Matthew 4:18-19 (NIV) 

Jesus said, “If you follow Me, you’ll reach out to lost people, period!” He could have promised the disciples many things if they would follow Him. Notice that He didn’t say you’ll be more disciplined or spiritual, you’ll know the Bible better, or you’ll become great preachers. Nope,  Jesus just said, “If you’re a follower of Me, you need to share your story with people who need to  hear it.” 

It’s interesting to note that the very first thing Jesus told His disciples was that they would reach out to lost people. It’s also the very last thing He told them before He left this world. 

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19 (NIV) 

The first thing Jesus told His followers, and the last thing He told them, was to make sure reaching out to lost people was an important part of their lives. SHARING your faith is what you do if you are a follower of Jesus Christ. Two entry-level methods of doing this are: 

  1. Share your testimony. This is who I was before, then I said yes to Jesus, and this is who I today.  
  2. Invite them to church. 

SHARING your faith with those you love will change your relationship with God, and it just might change the lives of people in your sphere of influence forever!

  • Ask God to give you the courage to begin SHARING with those around you. • Spend some time today just talking to God about whatever is on your mind. Ask Him to get involved in the details of your life and to help you sense His presence in your life today.
