VEHICLE No. 1 [PRAYER]

PRAYER is a spiritual vehicle God designed to take you closer to Him than you’ve ever been before. Let’s take a moment and re-examine the passage we looked at on Day 9.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

PRAYER brings us peace because God guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. As you would expect, God has very carefully worded this message. He said that when you pray, He begins  GUARDING your heart and mind.

Ask any Secret Service agent or professional bodyguard, and they will tell you that you can’t guard anyone against a distance. To be effective you must be right up next to the person you’re guarding. God is showing us that not only does PRAYER bring peace, but it also brings us closer to  Him. In fact, so close that He can guard us—up close and personally. Every time you pray, you’re closing the gap between you and God; you’re moving closer to Him, and He is moving closer to you.

Come near to God and he will come near to you. James 4:8 (NIV)

Movement Day 10

TO DO

  • Talk to God about your journey toward Him over the past week. Do you feel close to  Him today or distant? Be honest. If you don’t feel close, what do you need to do to get closer to Him?
  • Talk to God about what you are worried about, excited about, and want to accomplish this next week.
  • Ask God for a sense of peace today.
  • Ask God to come near to you as you are using this first spiritual vehicle, PRAYER.

  • Write down one thought.

TO REMEMBER

You can talk to God in your own words as if you were talking to a dear friend. You can and should be brutally honest with God. And remember, every time you talk with Him you ARE moving into a closer, life-altering relationship with Him!
